Basic math tells us that having 15 out of 90 numbers on a ticket means that a called ball number will be on your ticket an average of 1 in 6 calls.

Obviously, many tickets will do much better than these odds; but also some tickets do worse. This is why purchasing multiple tickets will help out. If you are onto twentieth call and you only have 2 numbers blotted, you simply are not going to win any of the three prizes.

Those three prizes are Line, Any 2 Lines and House. A Line is won by being the first player to cover a row of 5 numbers. Any 2 Lines is won by being the first player that completely covers the numbers on 2 out of 3 rows. House is won by the first player to completely cover all of the numbers on a ticket.

75 Ball

This game is not played as often in English bingo halls, but it has become rather pervasive in almost all bingo websites. This version of the game was created in the U.S. in the early 1900′s. It involves a 5×5 grid on the bingo card. 24 out of the 25 spaces will include numbers and the middle square will be a free space to cover immediately.

The traditional way to win is to be the first to cover any row, column or diagonal of 5 numbers on a bingo card. Each card will have columns that contain a letter of the word B-I-N-G-O. These columns can only contain certain numbers; for instance, the B column can only contain numbers 1 through 15. Traditionally, the letter is called before the number like B-3 or O-74. Often, the letter is left off of the balls in the UK 75 ball rooms; but they will still be present at bingo sites that target USA bingo players.

There are additional ways to win at 75 ball bingo. This includes the different patterns that can be covered. There are hundreds of different patterns that I have seen including: A pattern (and B, C … Z patterns), Four corners, Plus sign, Heart, Checker Board, as well as only using a certain line or diagonal on a card as the pattern. And that is just the start of the shapes and objects that are turned into patterns on the bingo cards. Basically, the other numbers outside of the pattern do not matter in these games.

There is also the coverall bingo game. The goal is simple: You have to be the first person to cover all of the spaces on a bingo card. Coverall games will always last longer than other bingo games. Because every number needs to be covered, you can expect a 75 ball coverall to last between 50 and 65 calls.

80 Ball

Here is a game that is strictly a product of the internet. The 80 ball bingo game is played with a 4×4 grid of numbers on a card. Each card has 16 numbers; no spaces, no freebies. Each of the columns will include 4 numbers within a 20-number range. That means the column on the left will include 1-20, then 21-40; 41-60 and 61-80.

This game also has a number of ways to be played. Some of bingo rooms in the UK will offer Speed 80 bingo. This is usually defined as being the first person to cover 4 numbers in a line vertically.
